Dukes Set for First-Round Matchup Against Volunteers

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women's tennis is set for its NCAA Championship first-round match, as it battles #15 Tennessee on Friday, May 7 in Charlottesville, Va.

The opening serve is slated for a noon start at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar's Head Resort.

The winner of JMU vs. Tennessee will face the victory of host Virginia and LIU on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the NCAA Second Round.

JMU'S NCAA HISTORY

JMU is making its second appearance in program history in the NCAA Championship.
It also advanced to the tournament in 2019 after winning its first CAA championship that season.
The Dukes are 0-1 all-time in NCAA matches, falling 4-0 to Duke in 2019.

SERIES HISTORY

The Dukes and Volunteers have met once previously, with UT holding a 1-0 series lead.
It will be the first time the two have faced off in over 44 years.
The Volunteers downed JMU 7-2 back on Oct. 23, 1976, in the inaugural meeting.
Should the Dukes advance, they have faced Virginia 17 times previously, with the Cavaliers holding a 14-3 lead, and would mark the first meeting since Oct. 17, 1997.
JMU has never faced LIU in women's tennis.
