Suwaibatu Mohammed (Swiss), on our Women's Soccer team was presented with an opportunity that she could not pass up. This summer, she was able to complete an internship back home in Ghana with The John A Kufor Foundation. This experience not only exposed her directly to leadership, governance, development and agriculture, but it was also the first time she had been back home in years.

"I was super excited to be back home. The last time I visited was 3 years ago, and everything has changed in positive and negative ways," Swiss said.
This internship was an agriculture-based work site that allowed Swiss and her peers to travel to different governmental firms and learn the internal logistics to agriculture.
"Each day was entirely different, there would be days we were in the office doing different tasks and other days we were traveling to different buildings to hear government leaders speak about agriculture. It was a good balance, to do office work then go apply what you have learned out in the world," Swiss stated.
Swiss was able to learn and retain information during her time in Ghana, however when speaking with her she was most passionate about the rise of leadership from women.
"Seeing women from my culture step out of their comfort zone really inspires me for my future aspirations. It takes courage and a powerful woman to lead by example; it does not happen often," remarked Swiss.
