FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – James Madison men's tennis notched their third win in a row, beating The Citadel, 6-1, in a neutral-site contest on Monday at Gene Clayton Tennis Center on the campus of Methodist University.
The Dukes improved to 9-2 this season, while the Bulldogs fell to 4-17.
The scoring for the Dukes began in doubles play, as they won two of three bouts.
Holden Koons and
Youssef Sadek earned a 6-1 victory on court one over Lucas Robins and Hayden Shoemake.
The doubles point was secured on court three, as
Oscar Hernandez and
Mario Pena triumphed over Everett Barkley and Josiah Schainblatt, 6-1.
JMU kept it rolling with the hot start into singles play. Hernandez was the first to earn a singles point for the Dukes, beating Schainblatt on court four, 6-0, 6-1.
Edson Sanchez grabbed a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory of his own on court five, as he downed Sebastian Kamieniecki to make it 3-0 in JMU's favor.
The clinching point came by way of
William Karpinski. He took care of business on court three with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Robins.
Mathieu Josserand added to the Dukes' lead, beating Andrew Darby, 6-2, 6-3, on court six.
The day ended with a pair of three-set matches, with the Dukes claiming one of them. Koons dominated in sets one and three, winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 on court one over Shoemake.
