MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – James Madison men's golf improved its scores every round and finished with a 10th-place showing at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
The Dukes finished with team rounds of 298-290-287 on their way to a final tally of 875 (+11). Santa Clara took home the title in the 14-team field with a 54-hole score of 843 (-21).
Junior
Owen Kose (218, +2) posted a final-round 70 (-2) to rise to a tie for 35th in the 87-player field with teammate
Daniel Cheng, who competed as an individual. Kose improved his scores every day after a 75 (+3) and one-over 73 in his first two rounds, while Cheng bounced back from a first-round 76 with consecutive rounds of one-under 71.
Garrett Kuhla produced a 54-hole score of three-over 219 (72-69-78) as the redshirt sophomore's second-round 69 (-3) led to a career-best tie for 38th place finish. Teammate
Václav Tichý (75-74-70) also tied for 38th.
Newcomers
Tommy McKenzie (76-74-75) and
Alex Seibal (85-74-72) rounded out the JMU contingent in Myrtle Beach with 68th and T-77th finishes, respectively.
