Dukes Close Fall Play with 19 Wins at Navy Invite

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – James Madison men's tennis wrapped up fall tournament play by claiming 19 total victories at the Navy Invite (Nov. 7-9), held at the Tose Family Tennis Center.

The tournament featured matches for JMU against players from Navy, Binghamton, Bucknell, Norfolk State and Saint Joseph's. JMU captured 12 singles wins and seven doubles triumphs, finishing just above .500 in both areas on the weekend.

Harrison Lee led the field with six total wins, going 3-0 in both singles and doubles, as he teamed with Aurelien Schmitt to win 18 of 26 games in doubles play. After a straight set win on the opening day against Norfolk State's Boris Lunin, he held off a pair on Saturday in super tiebreakers, defeating Binghamton's Zihe Liao, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (3), and Navy's Ethan Garcia, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (3).

Zach Fleishman won four total matches, highlighted by his 3-0 play in singles. He won all three bouts in straight sets, dropping a total of eight games in the three victories. He first defeated NSU's Przemyslaw Nikolajuk (6-0, 6-2) before turning in Saturday wins over Binghamton's Andrew Fang (6-1, 6-1) and Navy's Lachlan Buckingham (6-0, 6-4).

Schmitt also added a singles win over Binghamton's Ioannis Sakkas (6-2, 6-1) on the opening day to finish with four total wins.

JMU will announce its spring dual-match schedule, which begins in January, in the coming weeks.
