Dukes Have Strong Showing at Orange & Blue Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- James Madison men's tennis started the 2026 fall campaign over the weekend as four Dukes competed at the Orange & Blue Classic with the likes of Duke, Old Dominion, Penn, Princeton, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
In action for JMU was Gur Libal, Zach Fleishman, Riccardo Ciulli and Kaua Cressoni as the quartet combined for 10 total victories, four of which came in doubles play while six were in singles action. The Dukes played well in doubles play, going 4-2 for the weekend as both Libal/Fleishman and Ciulli/Cressoni notched two wins as a pair.
Friday afternoon saw Libal/Fleishman record a 7-6 (4) victory over Old Dominion while they two got the job done against Duke 6-2 on Saturday. Ciulli and Cressoni beat Penn in doubles action, winning 6-4 on Saturday in addition to a 6-2 win over UVA on Sunday.
In singles play, the Dukes faired well with Cressoni and Libal providing a pair of wins each. Cressoni took down Old Dominion in two sets (6-3, 6-4) on Friday and bested Princeton in two sets on Sunday. Meanwhile, Libal also bested the Tigers, winning 6-3, 6-2 on Friday and 6-4, 6-3 over UVA on Sunday. Fleishman won in two sets (6-3, 6-4) on Sunday afternoon while Ciulli won a three-set duel over Penn 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3) on Saturday.
