Václav Tichý tied for fourth to lead the men's golf team to a 10th-place showing at the Dorado Beach Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
Tichý's tie for third is his third top-five showing of the 2024-25 season and sixth in his career. The native of Prague, Czech Republic carded rounds of 69-71-68 and finished at 208 (-8) in the deep 102-player field at the Dorado Beach Golf Club and its par-72, 7-199-yard layout.
Junior
Alex Seibal, competing as an individual, rocketed up leaderboards on Tuesday with a final-round 68 (-4) to finish tied for 28th – a season-best. The native of Gilbert, Ariz., tallied with a 54-hole score of 215 (-1).
As a team, JMU finished 10th in the 16-team field with an aggregate of 862 (-2) and ahead of Sun Belt opponents Old Dominion and App State.
Garrett Kuhla posted three solid rounds of 72-74-72 to finish tied for 43rd with a three-round score of 218 (+2). Daniel Cheng tied for 54th, two strokes behind Kuhla at 220 (+4) after carding rounds of 74-70-76, and Tommy McKenzie finished strong with an even-par 72 to tie for 60th after a 73 and 76 in his first two rounds.
René Bergendi (222, +6) and Owen Kose (224, +8) closed out the JMU contingent in Puerto Rico by tying for 65th and 73rd, respectively.
