Harrisonburg, Va. – James Madison women's soccer has added Sydney Davis as an assistant coach, head coach
Joshua Walters, Sr. announced Wednesday.
"We are excited to welcome Sydney and her family to JMU." Walters said. "She brings D1 assistant coaching experience from Campbell and some international playing experience. I met Sydney out on the recruiting trail a few years ago and she shared with me how much she loved the Shenandoah Valley and Harrisonburg from her time playing at Bridgewater College. She is a fantastic addition to our staff and will impact our players right away"
Davis joins the staff from Campbell University, where she served in the same role for one season. The Camels finished 2025 6-9-3, including a 4-6 record in CAA play. Freshman midfielder Abby Connolly was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team.
Prior to her stint at Campbell, Davis served as an assistant coach at Division III member Dickinson College for two seasons where four members of the Red Devils Squad received All-Conference Honors in 2023.
Davis played for five seasons at Bridgewater College in Virginia, from 2017 to 2021. During her time there, she broke the program record for all-time wins and shutouts as a goalkeeper. In the 2021 season, she set the program record with eight shutouts in a single season.
Davis was also named the VaSID State Defensive Player of the Year in the 2020-21 season. In 2021, she was a member of the United Soccer Coaches second team all-region, with a save percentage of .855 in her final year.
After her collegiate career, Davis played one season of professional soccer in the Liga I in Romania. She was also a member of Eagle FC in the USL W League, advancing to the semifinal match in 2023.
Davis graduated from Bridgewater College in 2021 with a degree in Environmental Science and Wildlife Biology.
A native of Arlington, Va., Davis lives with her husband, son, and their two dogs and two cats.
