Amber Kohl was hired as the Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition at James Madison in August 2024.
In her role she oversees the nutrition duties of the football, men’s and women’s tennis, swim and dive, and cheer programs.
Prior to her to move to Harrisonburg, Kohl was on staff at Alabama as a performance dietician. In Tuscaloosa, she was responsible for nutrition education, counseling, fueling interventions, while traveling with the Crimson Tide’s volleyball and men’s and women’s tennis teams.
Kohl also supervised the student volunteers, while aiding in the day-to-day tasks of UA football, swim and dive, and men’s basketball.
She began in career in sports nutrition with Virginia Tech Athletics, including being a dietetic and nutrition intern for numerous Hokie programs. Kohl also spent time as a personal trainer in Blacksburg.
Kohl, a native of the Commonwealth, holds two degrees from Virginia Tech, graduating with her bachelor’s degree in human nutrition and dietetics in December 2020 and her master’s in nutrition and dietetics in December 2022.
