WOMEN'S SOCCER SHUTS OUT LIBERTY 4-0

HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 21, 2005 – James Madison (5-3-0) scored three second-half goals en route to a 4-0 shutout of visiting Liberty (2-3-2) in women's soccer Wednesday night at the JMU Soccer Complex.
Senior Kim Argy (Oak Hill, Va./Chantilly) scored twice, freshman Kimmy Germain (McLean, Va./Langley) had a goal and an assist, and junior Natalie Ewell (Richmond, Va./James River) handed out two assists for the Dukes.
JMU led 1-0 at intermission after Germain connected on a header off a Ewell cross at the 33:00 mark.
An Argy goal just 4:08 into the second half pushed the Dukes' lead to 2-0. Freshman Caitlin Walko (Vienna, Va./Langley) sent a pass from behind the midfield line ahead to Argy, who dribbled 30 yards downfield to the goal. Argy was marked closely by a Liberty defender, but she managed to get the ball past the defender and then by Liberty senior goalkeeper Sonia Rodriguez (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) with a shot from just outside the left goalpost.
Ten minutes later Argy scored again, this time from five yards out off a pass from the left side of the field from Ewell.
The final goal was scored by senior Karly Skladany (Westerville, Ohio (St. Francis DeSales) on a header off a Germain corner kick at 62:24.
Liberty took only four shots but nearly scored in the 28th minute when senior Rachel Bendzlowicz's (Holland, Pa./Council Rock) shot took a high bounce close to the goal. JMU senior goalkeeper Jessica Hussey (Kanata, Ontario/Holy Trinity) had to make a last-second leap to punch the ball over the crossbar. Another Liberty shot by sophomore Hannah Sullivan (Minden, Nev./Douglas) from just outside the box in the 75th minute was just wide of the goal.
Hussey made two saves in 68 minutes and shared the shutout with senior Amanda Hutchings (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and red-shirt sophomore Sarah Hopkins (Lititz, Pa./Warwick).
Argy's two goals helped her move up on two JMU's career lists. She now has 27 career goals and moved from eighth to seventh place on the Dukes' all-time list. She increased her points total to 61, tying her for sev
