PARRIS LEADS DUKES AT GRIAK CROSS COUNTRY MEET

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Sept. 27, 2008 -- James Madison junior Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) was the Dukes' top finisher at the Roy Griak Cross Country Meet hosted Saturday by the University of Minnesota.
Parris placed 27th and completed the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 7 seconds.
Arizona State junior Kari Hardt won the race, in which 222 runners competed. She was timed in 21:18.4.
JMU placed seventh in the 20-team competition. Nationally ninth-ranked Minnesota won the team title with 31 points, and was followed by fifth-ranked Arizona State (46), New Mexico (89), 20th-ranked Duke (105), Portland (157), Adams State (251) and JMU (258).
JMU junior Jessica Propst (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) placed 36th in 22:25, and junior Lynne Colombo (Malborough, Conn./RHAM), finished 59th in 22:57. Senior Caitlin O'Malley (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) was 60th in 22:59.
