CONWAY, S.C., Mar. 13, 2009 ? The James Madison men's tennis team wrapped up its spring break tour of South Carolina with a 5-1 loss at Coastal Carolina Friday. The Dukes dropped to 2-10 with the loss while the Chanticleers improved to 11-2.
Due to inclement weather the teams skipped doubles play and went straight to singles play. CCU took control of the match in the solo match ups, winning five of six matches. Madison got its lone point from sophomore Jared Robinson (Johannesburg, South Africa/St. Stithians), winning the No. 1 singles match, 7-5, 6-4 over German Perez.
Freshman Ville Maaranen (Joensuu, Finland/Joensuun lukio) pushed his match to a third set but ultimately fell to Dorian Sovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Next up for the Dukes is their first home match of the season as they host Liberty in a 2:30 p.m. match.
