RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 24, 2010 - The James Madison men's tennis team lost 3-2 to Georgetown its finale of the VCU 4+1 Invitational in Richmond, Va. on Sunday.
The Hoyas claimed a crucial 1-0 lead after Bryan Miller and Andrew Bruhn combined for a 7-5, 7-5 win over juniors Matt King (Lorton, Va./Robinson) and Yaroslav Voznenko (Kherson, Ukraine/Kherson Technical H.S.) in doubles play.
Dukes freshmen Greg Vladimirsky (Coral Springs, Fla./Broward Virtual) and Stephen Hardy (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) led the singles attack picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 4. Vladimirsky defeated GU's Anthony Tan 7-5, 7-5, while Hardy dropped Will Lowell 6-2, 5-7, 10-7.
David Tillem and Charlie Caris picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to clinch the match for the Hoyas.
Next up for JMU, is a trip to Williamsburg, Va. on Feb. 6 to take on William & Mary in a Colonial Athletic Association showdown.
