LOUISVILLE, Ky.,November 12, 2011- The James Madison University women's cross country team finished eighth at the NCAA Regional Meet held at E.P "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky today. Junior runner Katie Harman (Clarksville Md./River Hill) led the Dukes, finishing in 17th place with a time of 20:51.1. In total, the race included 240 runners from 35 different schools and saw all scoring Dukes finish in the top 80 in the field.
Stacey Nobles (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) also ran a terrific race for JMU, finishing the 6 kilometer race in 21:19.1 good for 34th followed by senior Jess Zozos (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) in 74th (21:58.6). Next to finish for the Purple and Gold was junior Annie Reiner (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) coming in at 22:05.5 (79th) and freshman Kristen Landry (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) who rounded out Madison's scoring field with an 80th place finish (22:05.8).
Finishing at the top of the race and earning automatic bids to the NCAA Championship meet in Terre Haute, Indiana were Virginia and North Carolina State. The Dukes now wait until Sunday when the full qualifying field will be announced.
