NEW YORK, N.Y.- November 19, 2011 - James Madison junior runner Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) won the ECAC individual championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., on Saturday. Finishing with a time of 17:29, Harman's ECAC title comes just two weeks after winning her first CAA Championship.
The Dukes followed Iona (56), La Salle (83) and Syracuse (95) to finish fourth place in team competition with a score of 108.
Five of JMU's 12 runners finished inside the top 31 of the 94-person field. Harman, freshman Kristen Landry (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) (23rd; 18:22), junior Stacey Nobles (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakea) (26th; 18:26), senior Jess Zozos (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) (27th; 18:26) and junior Annie Reiner (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) (31st; 18:37) were the five scoring runners for Madison.
JMU also placed runners at 52nd in sophomore Julie Strange (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County), 53rd freshman Rachel Hagen (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls), and 58th in freshman Kelsey Langton (Hamilton Square, N.J./Notre Dame HS). Rounding out the field for JMU in 74th, 78th, 83rd and 87th respectively were freshman Morgan Price (Gainesville, Va./Brentsville), freshman Lizzy Powell (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin), junior Michelle Savarese (Middletown ,N.J./Red Bank Catholic), and sophomore Kelsey Seymour (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria).
