BLACKSBURG, Va., March 4, 2012 - The James Madison men's tennis team fell to No. 40 Virginia Tech Sunday, 7-0. The loss ended a two-game win streak for the Dukes and dropped their overall record to 3-3. Virginia Tech improved to 6-4.

Virginia Tech took the early lead, sweeping double play to secure the point. In the top doubles spot Luka Somen and Corrado Degl' Incerti Tocci defeated Bertrand Moulin and Greg Vladimirsky 8-4. In No. 2 doubles, Lucas Oliveira and Patrick Daciek handed Ryan Pool and Florent Sentenac their first doubles loss since the Dukes' first match against Duquesne, taking down the JMU team 8-4. Tommi Nissinen and Hugo Ramadier also fell in the No. 3 doubles position, falling to Tech's Hunter Kootz and Trpimir Kujundzic, 8-3.

The Hokies followed the doubles sweep by taking down all six Dukes in singles play.

Mauricio Antun got the Hokies started in singles play, taking down Ramadier in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Tocci followed with a straight-set defeat of Moulin, 6-4, 6-3 in No. 4 singles.

Somen then secured the Hokies' victory, taking down Vladimirsky in the top singles position, 6-4, 6-2. With the match now out of reach, Koontz took down Nissinen in No. 6 singles by retirement. Koontz was leading in the third set when Nissinen could no longer continue.

In the fifth singles position, Kujundzic downed Sentenac in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 10-3 and Oliveira dropped Pool in straight sets, 7-6(0), 6-3 to finish the match.

JMU continues its four-match road swing Tuesday, March 6 in Rock Hill, S.C. taking on Winthrop. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
