The Dukes slipped one spot in the final round with a 22-over 306 to finish at 60-over 902. Chattanooga saw its 10-shot lead dwindle but still managed to hold on for a 24-over 876 and a two-shot victory over Campbell at 26-over 878. Maryland was third at 32-over 884, with Western Carolina (46-over 898) and High Point (48-over 900) rounding out the top five teams.
Sophomore Karishma Thiagaraj (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) her first top-five finish of her career, tying for fifth at 4-over 217 after a final round 1-over 73. Thiagaraj started four over through10 holes but came in with a pair of birdies and no bogeys in her final eight holes. Junior Shabril Brewer (Herndon, Va./Westfield) moved up five spots to a tie for 33rd with her final round 4-over 75 leaving her at 15-over 228. Sophomore Kelsey Solan (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) was next in a tie for 48th at 22-over 235, with junior Nikola Wessels (Muenster, Germany/Marienschule Muenster) one shot back at 23-over 236 in a tie for 53rd Freshman Nicola Haynes (Newcastle-Upon-Tyle, England) was the final Duke, tying for 59th at 25-over 238.
Chattanooga's Agathe Sauzon took home medalist honors with a 2-under 69 in the final round to move to 3-under 210 for the tournament, one shot better than Kaylin Yost of Campbell.
The Dukes return to the course quickly on Mon.-Tue., Oct. 7-8, playing in the ECU Pirate Invitational at Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
