GREENSBORO, N.C. – James Madison women's golf sits in fourth place after the first round of the UNCG Forest Oaks Classic on Friday at Forest Oaks Golf Club.
JMU is 22-over par on 302 strokes heading into the second round of play. The tournament includes nine teams and 48 golfers.

Gabrielle Weiss leads the way for the Dukes tying a career best for 18 holes at 2-over par 72, good for fourth place heading into the second round. Freshman
Katie Turk carded a 6-over 76 to tie for 13th.

Jordan McKelvin are tied for 21st after recording a 7-over par 77. Sophomore
Maddisen Cox rounded out the day-one scoring for the Dukes tied for 25th with a 8-over par 78.

enior Kelsey Solan and Carley Cox are both tied for 13th with a 6-over par 76.
The Dukes are trailing first-place Winthrop by six strokes heading into round two.
Due to weather conditions, the course was changed to a par-70 and hole No.4 was adjusted to a par-3 from a par-5 for a course total of 5,801 yards.
Quoting Sarah Sargent "Today was a difficult day with the rain and wind. Gabrielle did a great job fighting hard and overcoming some of her recent fears on the course. We need to start and finish better the next couple rounds. I know we can and should win this tournament so we will continue to fight and see if we can come out on top."
