MASSANETTA SPRINGS, Va. - The James Madison cross country team hosted the third annual JMU Alumni Meet Saturday morning at Massanetta Springs, giving current student-athletes and alumni a chance to come together.
Junior Carol Strock was the first current student-athlete to complete the 4,000-meter course in third place with a time of 15:58.3 with JuniorTessa Mundellcoming in right next to her at 15:58.5, good enough for fourth.
The top alumnae finisher Alison Parris ('11) crossed the finish line in first with an impressive time of 15:06.6. Recent graduate Tiel Westbrook ('15) also had an excellent showing in the meet with a time of 15:57.7 to place second.
Overall, 29 runners participated in the meet including 12 alumni and several other friends of the program.
Noteworthy Several runners stuck together in the spirit of the friendly, all-JMU race. The only runners to finish closer together than Strock and Mundell were freshmen Olivia Viparina and Erica Jacksonwho earned times of 16:11.2 and 16:11.3 respectively.
Coach's Quote "It's been a lot of fun. This is a low-key event from a competitive standpoint for our team... it's a great chance for us to get together each year and have a good time."
