ELON, N.C. – Fifth-seeded James Madison women's tennis won Saturday's doubles competition to open the semifinals of the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship, but top-seeded William & Mary stormed back to sweep singles to notch a 4-1 victory at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
Freshman

Dylan Owens opened competition with a 6-1 doubles victory on No. 2 before the Tribe (13-10) answered by topping senior
Timea Guibe and junior
Kimmy Herrock 6-2 on No. 1 to even the score. Sophomore
Emma Petersen and senior
Rebecca Harris tallied a 6-4 victory on No. 3 to clinch the doubles point for the Dukes (17-8).
The Tribe opened singles action with two-set victories on the top-two courts to take a 2-1 advantage over JMU. Owens and the Tribe's Lauren Goodman were locked in a hard-fought battle on No. 3, but Goodman held out for a 6-4, 6-4 victory to push William & Mary ahead 3-1.
After dropping the opening set on No. 4, Herrock stormed back to lock the second set at 6-6, but Rosie Cheng landed the decisive point to secure a singles sweep and victory for the Tribe.
