HARRISONBURG, Va. – College of Charleston's surge in singles play snapped a six-match win-streak by James Madison women's tennis as the Dukes (15-6, 3-2 CAA) fell 4-3 to the Cougars (15-8, 2-3 CAA) on Sunday afternoon.
JMU had the early 1-0 lead after a 2-1 edge in doubles, but CofC earned the first three singles decisions in two sets to push ahead to 3-1. Senior Timea Guibeand junior Dylan Owensheld off match point for the Dukes by battling to two-set victories of their own, setting up the No. 3 position to be the decisive point.
Junior Kimmy Herrockwent the distance against Christi Woodson at No. 3 singles, coming back from a first-set tiebreak loss to win 6-4 in set two. Herrock pushed out to a 4-2 lead in the third and decisive set, but Woodson won the final four games to take the set 6-4 and secure match point for CofC.
Owens went 2-0 on the afternoon, adding a 6-1 doubles win with freshman Jona Roka at the No. 3 position. Guibe stretched her singles-victory streak to seven, the longest active streak for JMU.
HOME FRONT
Today's loss was the first for JMU at home this season. The Dukes conclude their home slate with a 6-1 home record, the most home wins for JMU in a decade.

JMU hits the road next weekend for the final two matches of the regular season. The Dukes close CAA action at Elon on Saturday, April 15 in an 11 a.m. contest and end the regular season at Old Dominion on Sunday, April 16 at noon.
