AUGUSTA, Ga. - Senior 
Laura Gomez-Ruiz carded a 1-over 73 on Sunday afternoon, leading the way as the James Madison women's golf team took home 12th place at the 3M Augusta Invitational, hosted by Augusta at the par-72, 6,228-yard Forest Hills Golf Club.
 
Gomez-Ruiz posted a steady round, racking up 15 pars and birdieing the par-3 seventh on her way to her lowest round of the weekend. The performance lifted her four spots on the leaderboard as she took home a tie for 22nd at the 87-player tournament.
 
As a team, the Dukes notched a 307 in their final round, closing the 15-team tournament in sole possession of 12th with a final score of 921.
 
Sophomore 
Morgan Cox closed her weekend with a round of 4-over 76, climbing five spots into a tie for 73rd (238), while sophomore 
Lauren Comegys finished tied for 42nd at 228 after a final-round 6-over 78. Junior 
Katie Turk closed the JMU scoring with an 8-over 80 that put her in a tie for 76th on the weekend, while senior 
Maddisen Cox carded a final-round 82 to finish tied for 80th.
 
Playing as an individual, senior 
Gabrielle Weiss shaved a stroke off her first two rounds, carding a 7-over 79 to wrap up the weekend tied for 76th.
 
UP NEXT
The Dukes will be back in action next week, when they head to the 2018 John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia State in Stockbridge, Ga. from March 25-27.
