TOWSON, Md.- James Madison women's tennis used a complete effort to roll past Towson 6-1 in its Colonial Athletic Association opener on Friday evening. The Dukes improved their record to 9-0 overall and 1-0 in CAA play.
The Dukes started quickly by picking up the opening point in doubles. Sophomore
Jona Roka and senior
Dylan Owens dispatched their Towson counterparts 6-2 at No. 3 doubles. Freshman
Anna Makarova and junior
Emma Petersen followed Roka and Owens with a 6-2 victory of their own at the number two position.
In singles, victories from Makarova at No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-4) and reigning CAA Player of the Week
Liz Norman at No. 2 (6-3, 6-3) gave JMU a 3-0 lead.
Following her performance in doubles, Petersen clinched match point with a decisive 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles over Towson's Barbora Vasilkova.
