PINEHURST, N.C. - The James Madison men's golf team will travel to the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship this weekend, teeing off against its fellow league members this weekend, Friday-Sunday, April 19-21. The championship will be hosted at the historic Pinehurst Resort on Pinehurst No. 8.
The Dukes are seeded second for the tournament with a No. 92 national ranking, checking in just behind College of Charleston, and will close out the regular season prior to possible NCAA Regionals, scheduled at six sites on May 13-15, and NCAA Championships, set to be held on May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
The tournament will mark the regular-season finale for the Dukes' lone 2018-19 senior:
Ben Tucker.
Since joining the Dukes as a transfer prior to his junior year, Tucker has been one of the Dukes' most consistent performers as he played in 59 rounds across 20 events, second-most on the team in that time period. His 73.39 career scoring average (1.59 to par) is currently the fifth-lowest to-par in program history.
This season, he par-3 scoring average of 3.0769 is on pace to break the program record, while his 12 rounds of par-or-better are already tied for 13th-most in JMU history.
The Dukes will open the CAA Championships with the first of three rounds on Friday, April 19, going off the first tee alongside UNCW and College of Charleston at 7:30 a.m. in an effort to dodge inclement weather in the afternoon forecast.
