LYNCHBURG, Va. – James Madison had a solid showing on the courts Saturday at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted at the Liberty Tennis Complex, as both junior Holden Koons and William Karpinski advanced to next week's ITA Super Regionals.

Koons moved on to Supers by winning his main-draw singles match and the JMU duo went 2-0 in doubles, which included a big upset, to move on.

In singles play, Koons claimed a 7-5, 7-5 victory against Liberty's Christiaan Worst in the round of 16 to punch his ticket to Norfolk.

Switching over to doubles, Koons and Karpinski opened the day with a tight 8-6 win against Radford's Konstantinos Raptis and Guilherme Severin.

They followed that up with an upset of the regional's top-seeded team, as they took down Virginia Tech's Carlo Donato and Alex Ix by a score of 8-4.

Additionally, Karpinski picked up a 6-4, 6-2 consolation victory against Tech's Matt Harper. The Dukes also won twice against Radford singles players, as sophomore Oscar Hernandez also took down Robert Hagen by scores of 6-3, 6-4, and redshirt freshman Youssef Sadek claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win over Raphael Mujan.

Koons and Holden will wrap up fall tournament play for the men's tennis Dukes at the ITA Atlantic Super Regionals, which will be hosted by Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va., Oct. 23-25.
