WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Top-seeded James Madison made quick work of No. 8 seed Towson, rolling to a 4-0 victory in the quarterfinal round of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship on Friday afternoon at the Mille West Tennis Facility.
The Dukes improved to 12-3 while the Tigers' season ended with a 7-14 record. JMU has now advanced to the CAA semifinals for the eighth consecutive championship.
JMU recorded a pair of doubles wins and three singles triumphs to move on to the next round.
In doubles, the tandem of redshirt senior
Jona Roka and redshirt sophomore
Kylie Moulin got the ball rolling for the Dukes. They beat Sarah Pospischill and Jessica Assenmacher on court two by a score of 6-0.
Shortly after, redshirt sophomores
Natalia Nikolopoulou and
Amanda Nord clinched the doubles point on court three. They came out victorious with a 6-1 decision against Amelia Lawson and Lea Kosanovic.
Transitioning to singles, redshirt senior
Alexis Franco gave JMU the 2-0 lead with her sweep on court five, recording a 6-0, 6-0 triumph against Lauryn Jacobs.
Redshirt sophomore
Daria Afanasyeva extended the lead to 3-0 on court one. She earned a 6-0, 6-2 win over Alexa Martinez to bring JMU to the brink of victory.
The clinching point came on court four, as Moulin downed Pospischill for the second time on the day with 6-0, 6-1 win.
The Dukes also held a one-set advantage on courts two, three and six, as Roka, Nikolopoulou and redshirt sophomore
Daniela Voloh each held leads when the match was stopped due to Moulin clinching the team victory.

JMU will face fourth-seeded College of Charleston in the CAA semifinals on Saturday, April 24. The opening serve is set for an 11 a.m. start. This is a rematch of JMU's regular-season finale, in which the Dukes won 7-0 back on April 10.
