STARKVILLE, Miss. – James Madison women's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision at Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon at the Rula Tennis Pavilion.
The Bulldogs improved to 8-3 on the year, while the Dukes fell to 4-7.
The match kicked off with teams trading 6-2 doubles victories. MSU's Alexandra Mikhailuk and Alessia Tagliente defeated
Hope Moulin and
Natalia Nikolopoulou for the early doubles advantage on court three.
Moments later,
Daria Afanasyeva and
Kylie Moulin upended Emma Antonaki and Marta Falceto on court two to even things up.
In a back-and-forth match on court one, the Bulldogs clinched the doubles point when Magda Adaloglou and Chloe Cirotte slid past
Michelle Los Arcos and
Daniela Voloh, 7-5.
Mississippi State used that momentum into singles play, picking up a pair of straight-set wins on courts one and two.
Adaloglou dropped just two games in her win against Nikolopoulou, at 6-0, 6-2, while Antonaki downed Afanasyeva, 6-3, 6-1, to make it a 3-0 lead for the Bulldogs.
Though forcing a third set on court six,
Amanda Nord fell to Tagliente, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, to clinch the match for the hosts.
Three other matches went unfinished as both Moulin sisters and Voloh were in tight bouts on courts three through five.
