HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball dropped both games of a double feature against No. 12 Duke Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.

JMU falls to 16-20 on the year while the Blue Devils improve to 34-5.

GAME 1: Duke 24, JMU 2
Duke took a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first following a two-run single to left field and a two-run homer over the center field fence.

In JMU's first at bat of the day, Hannah Shifflett homered to put the Dukes on the board.
However, the Blue Devils would go on to score 10 runs in the second to create a large 14-1 advantage over James Madison.

Duke added two runs in the third and eight runs in the fifth to distance themselves from JMU.

Hannah Hennessy brought in a run for the Dukes in the bottom of the fifth with her single up the middle but the deficit was too much for JMU to come back from.

GAME 2: Duke 10, JMU 1
The Blue Devils once again took a quick lead with a pair of three-run homers to go up 6-0 in the first. Duke then tallied another run in the second with an RBI single.

JMU scored in the bottom of the fifth when Hennessy homered to left field, but the Blue Devils answered in the following inning with three runs to put the Dukes away.

Alissa Humphrey pitched all six innings, notching three strikeouts.

UP NEXT
The Dukes are back on the road this upcoming weekend, resuming conference play at the College of Charleston on Friday, Apr. 15 at 3 p.m. and Saturday, Apr. 16 at 12 p.m. & 2 p.m.
