LAFAYETTE, La. – James Madison continued its strong start to Sun Belt Conference play on Sunday with a 5-2 victory at Louisiana at the Cajun Courts.
The Dukes improved to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in conference matches, while the Rajun Cajuns dropped to 4-5 and 0-2. This was the first meeting ever between JMU and Louisiana.
JMU went 2-0 in doubles and claimed four of six singles matches to earn its second straight win.
Daria Munteanu and
Daniela Voloh won both of their matches, while the sister duo of
Hope Moulin and
Kylie Moulin notched singles triumphs.

Doubles Play
- JMU claimed the early 1-0 match lead with by winning on a pair of courts while leading on a third.
- On court three, the team of Daria Afanasyeva and Reka Matko took down Cristina Tchanichev and Lucie Raquin, 6-3.
- The doubles point was clinched on court two where Munteanu and Voloh earned a 6-2 victory against Angel Santiago and Momoko Yoshimura.
- The final doubles match went unfinished at court one, as Kylie Moulin and Ines Oliveira were leading 5-4 versus Angelique Berrat and Carla Urchoeguia.
Singles Play
- Kylie Moulin doubled the JMU lead to 2-0, as she dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Raquin on court one.
- Louisiana got a point back on court three, as Berratt downed Oliveira, 6-4, 6-3.
- Munteanu moved the lead to 3-1 on court five with her 6-3, 6-3 triumph against Laure-Line Monnoyer.
- The Dukes clinched the match over on court four where Voloh used a first-set rally to upend Momoko Yoshimura, 7-5, 6-3. Voloh trailed 5-4 before winning the final three games to take the opening set.
- With the match in hand, Hope Moulin added one more victory to JMU's ledger, as she fended off Santiago on court six by scores of 6-4, 7-6 (5).
- In the final bout of the day, Urchoeguia rallied from a set down on court two to defeat Afanasyeva, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
MATCH FACTS
- Daria Munteanu won her eighth straight singles match on Sunday, moving to 8-1 at the No. 5 spot and 14-3 overall in her freshman campaign.
- Munteanu and Daniela Voloh have now captured five straight doubles matches, moving to 7-2 at the No. 2 slot. The tandem is now 11-3 when including fall tournament matches.
- Sunday marked JMU's 11th straight win against conference opponents, dating back to the 2021 spring season.
