MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Kendall Turner clinched third place individually as the James Madison women's golf team placed sixth overall at the Columbia Classic, hosted at the Duran Golf Club and its par-72, 6,303-yard layout.
Turner's three-day total of 213 (-3) was good for third place, just two strokes from second place finisher Alexis Kim (Yale), and five strokes behind Michelle Cox (Penn State) in first place. This marked Turner's 17th career top-10 finish, concluding the weekend three-under-par. She collected 12 birdies in three rounds.
In the 16-team field, JMU took sixth place with aggregate scores of 301-293-305, totaling 899 (+35). Yale captured the team title with a three-round score of 871 (+7).
Amelia Williams finished tied for 14th place in the field of 90 with a score of +6. After a first-round 76 (+4), Williams posted impressive rounds of 72 (even) and 74 (+2), anchoring the second spot for JMU.
Maria Atwood provided consistency, shooting a 78 (+6) in the first round before carding back-to-back four-over 76 scores in the final two days in Melbourne.
Kayleigh Reinke and Taylor Miano also competed for the Dukes. Reinke finished tied for 63rd place with a score of 237 (77-76-84), while Miano finished tied for 78th place with a score of +29 (78-86-81 = 245).
