HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women's tennis swept through doubles and claimed four of its five singles wins in straight sets en route to a 6-1 victory against Radford on Friday evening at East Campus Tennis Courts.

The Dukes improved to 3-5 on the year, while the Highlanders fell to 1-6.

Five Dukes went 2-0 on the day, as

Reka Matko,
Daria Munteanu,
Ines Oliveira and
Alexandra Prudente captured wins in both singles and doubles play.

It was JMU's seventh straight win against the Highlanders dating back to 2013.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles Play
- JMU took the early 1-0 lead with a sweep of the three doubles courts.
- Broerman and Prudente made quick work of Ameek Batth and Brooke Murphy, taking the court-two match, 6-1.
- Moments later, Munteanu and Oliveira pulled away from Julia Abrams and Lexi Smolder for a 6-2 triumph on court one to secure the doubles point.
- Doubles play would be played out, as Matko and Hope Moulin fended off Emily Brandow and Michaela Stephens in a 6-4 victory on court three.

Singles Play
- JMU doubled its lead on court three, as Oliveira started fast and finished strong in a 6-2, 6-4 win against Smolder.
- Munteanu dominated the first set and stormed back from a huge deficit in the second in her bout on court one versus Abrams. After not conceding a point in the opening frame, she found herself down 4-1 before reeling off five in a row for a 6-0, 6-4 triumph.
- In a back-and-forth match on court two, Broerman overcome a sluggish second set, routing Stephens in the third to clinch the win for JMU with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 victory.
- Matko took control of her match on court five early, dispatching Rachel Ekanem by scores of 6-2, 6-2 to extend the JMU lead to 5-0.
- Radford got on the board with a super-tiebreak win over on court four. Moulin battled back from down a set and trailing 4-1 in the second, winning that frame 6-4 to force the super. In the race to 10, Brandow took advantage of unforced errors to claim a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (4) win.
- In the night's final bout, Prudente captured the final win of the match with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph against Murphy.

JMU has three weeks off before returning to action on Saturday, March 9 when it opens Sun Belt Conference play against App State. The opening serve is set for 10 a.m. at Hillside Courts.
