HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison field hockey saw
Alice Roeper, Cassidy Strittmatter and
Sarah Beers were selected to the 2024 University Division All-State Field Hockey Team, as announced by the Virginia Sports Information Directors on Wednesday afternoon.

Roeper and Strittmatter earned First Team honors, while Beers earned Second Team Laurels. All three were named All-State for the first time in their careers. Additionally, this marks the first time since 2017 in which at least three JMU players landed on the All-State team.

Roeper wrapped up the 2024 campaign with a team-best 35 points off 15 goals, including five game-winning goals, and five assists on her way to being named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year, NFHCA All-South Region First Team and All-ECAC First Team.

Strittmatter – also an All-MAC First Team and NFHCA All-South Region First Team honoree – completed her senior season with ten goals and four assists for 24 points in her senior season. The Tabernacle, N.J. native scored the Dukes' first Mid-American Conference goal in a 2-1 win at Miami (Ohio) (Sept. 20).

Beers has started all 20 games and has anchored a JMU defense that posted six shutouts, including four in Mid-American Conference play. The Dukes finished first in the league in goals allowed average (1.60), giving the team the 11th scoring margin in Division I at +1.33. Additionally, JMU outscored MAC opponents 28-8 in the regular season.

The Dukes finished 14-6 (7-1 MAC), tying for the MAC regular-season title and finishing runner-up at the league tournament. JMU's 14 wins are tied for the most for the program since 2014, while six players earned All-MAC status.
