HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Head Coach
Christy Morgan has announced the 2025 schedule, featuring five teams that competed in the 2024 NCAA Field Hockey Championship.
Â
The schedule is comprised of 18 contests, with seven games taking place at the JMU Field Hockey Complex. The 2025 season will be the program's second as an affiliate member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
Â
"We are very excited about the quality of our schedule," said Morgan. "It's challenging for sure, and I believe that the team is up for the challenge! The MAC keeps getting stronger and stronger, so that's exciting and our non-conference schedule is stellar. We are working hard and will be ready to be super competitive again this season!"
Â
JMU will begin its fall slate in College Park, Md., with contests against Villanova (Aug. 31) and Liberty (Sept. 3). The Dukes will remain away from Harrisonburg as they face Liberty (Sept. 3), Richmond (Sept. 5) and American (Sept. 7).
Â
Finally, James Madison will play its first home game of the season on Sept. 12, when it hosts Towson for a Friday afternoon tilt. From there, the Dukes trek over the mountain to take on Virginia to complete the weekend on Sept. 14.
Â
JMU will make its way to the Great Lakes State to open MAC play against Central Michigan (Sept. 19) before squaring off against Michigan (Sept. 21).
Â
The Dukes return to the Commonwealth as they welcome Longwood to Harrisonburg on Sept. 26. Next, JMU will head to Boone, N.C., for the first time since 2021 for a league matchup against App State (Sept. 28).
Â
From there, the Dukes will prepare for a four-game homestand starting with Ball State (Oct. 3), followed by Duke (Oct. 5), Miami (Ohio) (Oct. 10) and Massachusetts (Oct. 17). The contest against the RedHawks serves as a MAC Championship rematch, while JMU's tilt with the Minutewomen will be the first between the two programs as members of the MAC.
Â
Next, Coach Morgan's squad will go on the road to Bellarmine (Oct. 19) and Kent State (Oct. 26) before returning for Senior Day on Oct. 31 when they welcome Ohio to the JMU Field Hockey Complex.
Â
Harrisonburg will be the host site of the MAC Field Hockey Championship after the Dukes earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament a season ago. The conference tournament commences on Nov. 5 with the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals on Nov. 6. The championship title match is slated for Saturday, Nov. 8.
