LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior Grace Petzold (Plymouth, Minn./Plymouth) tied for 12th to lead James Madison women's golf at the Red Raider Invitational on Wednesday.
Petzold, a transfer from St. Catherine's University in Saint Paul, Minn., finished with a three-round score of 224 (+8) on the par-72, 6,815-yard Rawls Course. Her second-round two-under 70 tied her JMU best, which was in between rounds of 76 (+4) and 78 (+6).
In a competitive 84-player field, sophomore Bella Flores tied for 33rd at 230 (+14) with rounds of 72-81-77. Freshman Emerson Elm finished one stroke behind Flores at 231 (+15) in a tie for 39th, tallying scores of 77-73-81.
As a team, the Dukes tied for seventh on the 15-team leaderboard with a 54-hole total of 914 (+50). Texas Tech came away with the team and individual medalist honors, as Lauren Zaretsky finished her three rounds with a score of three-under 213 to power the Red Raiders to a team score of 876 (+12), 12 strokes ahead of runner-up Houston Christian.
Klára Sionková (Vysoký Újezd, Czech Republic/Mensa Gymnázium) finished No. 4 for JMU, tying for 43rd with a 54-hole tally of 232 (+16) as the freshman fired rounds of 74-81-77. Rounding out the JMU contingent was Avery Robinson, who tied for 62nd.
