Daria Munteanu entered a James Madison women's tennis career top 10, but Penn State pushed past the Dukes, 4-0, on Friday at the PSU Indoor Tennis Center.

The Nittany Lions (7-1) clinched the doubles point by taking two of three courts and won three singles bouts to clinch the win.

For the Dukes (3-6), Munteanu earned a doubles victory with
Ariel Avidan on court three for her 118th overall win, tying her for 10th at JMU in combined wins. She's now matched with Katherine Bulling, who played for JMU from 2009 to 2013.

PSU nabbed the early lead, as all three doubles courts finished with 6-2 final scores. The clinching bout occurred on court one, as Olivia Dorner and Maelie Monfils gave the Nittany Lions the 1-0 advantage.

In singles play, it was fairly competitive on nearly every court. The hosts doubled its lead t 2-0 on court one, as Monfils downed Munteanu, 6-3, 6-3. The lead stretched to 3-0 on court four, as Brianna Baldi pulled away from Avidan for a 7-5, 6-2 win.

Penn State clinched the win on court three, as Grigoras earned a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 victory against
Brooklyn Hoffmann.
Mia Saveljic was nearing a match win before her contest with Maiko Uchijima went unfinished at 7-6 (6), 4-3.

The match was played on a four-court facility, and
Corinna Rietmann's court-five match had just begun, while
Anna Kantor's court-six match did not begin.

JMU opens a three-match homestand on Saturday, Feb. 28 when it hosts Richmond at 1 p.m.
