WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Meeting for the first time since the 2021 conference championship final, James Madison women's tennis rallied from a 2-0 deficit for a 4-3 triumph at William & Mary on Friday afternoon at the Mackesy Tennis Center.

The Dukes (7-6) ran their win streak to four straight while also capturing their fourth in a row against the Tribe (7-3). Friday marked the first matchup between the programs since JMU announced it would be joining the Sun Belt Conference.

W&M earned a 2-0 lead by virtue of the doubles point and a victory on court three singles. The Dukes responded with four straight singles wins, including a pair in three sets.

JMU's singles victories came via
Brooklyn Hoffmann on court two,
Anna Kantor on court five,
Daria Munteanu on court one and
Ariel Avidan on court four. The win for Avidan marked her third clinching point of her rookie season.

William & Mary took a 1-0 advantage after doubles wins on courts two and three. JMU gained an edge on court one, as Hoffmann and
Sophie Williams cruised to a 6-0 win over Francesca Davis and Tilda Larsson. After a 6-1 win or the Tribe on court two, the hosts clinched the point with a close 6-4 win on court three.

In singles, W&M's lead doubled to 2-0 on court three, where Davis downed Williams by scores of 6-4, 6-0.

JMU got on the board on court two, as Hoffmann dominated the third set to beat Larsson, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. The match was tied at 2-2 on court five, as
Anna Kantor won a crucial tiebreak in the second set to upend Alexia Gonzalez-Galino, 6-2, 7-6 (5).

The Dukes grabbed a 3-2 lead at the top court, where
Daria Munteanu pulled away from Sia Chaudry for a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Avidan completed the comeback both on her court and in the team match, as she held off Mira Kernagis for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win.

W&M closed the day on court six with a win, as Emma Pell defeated
Corinna Rietmann in three sets, at 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.

JMU returns to the court in Williamsburg on Saturday, March 7 when it takes on another former conference foe in Drexel at 1 p.m.
