Bastien Huon was hired as an assistant coach with the James Madison University men's tennis program ahead of the 2022-23 season. His official first day with the Dukes was Aug. 8, 2022.
Huon joined the Dukes fresh off his collegiate career, in which he was a two-time First Team All-Sun Belt Conference singles selection at Coastal Carolina.
Through two seasons with the Dukes, he helped them to 19 dual-match victories while coaching two singles competitors and one doubles tandem to All-Sun Belt status. In his first season, Holden Koons was voted First Team All-Sun Belt singles. This past season in 2023-24, Julian Lozano was a Second Team singles honoree, while he and Esteve Agusti were a Second Team doubles squad.
In his last two seasons playing at Coastal Carolina (2021-22), Huon captured 21 dual-match wins at the #1 singles spot while also winning 16 doubles bouts, primarily at the #2 slot. He ranked as high as #100 in the ITA singles rankings in 2021 and #116 in 2022.
Prior to CCU, he played two seasons at Campbell (2019-20), where he was a Second Team all-Big South Conference singles and doubles honoree. He won 29 singles matches while adding 25 doubles victories for the Camels.
Off the court, he was as a broadcast production intern in the Coastal athletics department for the 2021-22 academic year, while also serving as a communications and development intern for Brittany Tennis Federation in Vannes, France in 2018.
Huon graduated from Coastal Carolina in May 2022 with a master of science in sports management. He also earned two undergraduate degrees, with a bachelor of business administration in May 2020 from Campbell and an undergraduate technological degree of business & marketing from IUT Vannes in France.
