Grace Hashiguchi was named assistant coach of the James Madison women's tennis program on July 28, 2023, and she completed her third season with the Dukes in 2025-26.
JMU has gone 30-37 overall in her three seasons on staff, a stretch which has included a gauntlet of out-of-conference matches year in and year out. Most recently, JMU finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 12-11 overall record while playing all but three match against non-conference foes. JMU also turned in a 10-13 mark and berth in the Sun Belt semifinals in 2024-25 and an 8-13 ledger in 2023-24.
Since coaching at JMU, she's aided in the program producing two all-conference singles honors and one all-conference doubles laurel. Daria Munteanu has been recognized twice as a Second Team All-Sun Belt singles competitor in 2024 and 2026 while the doubles duo of Brooklyn Hoffmann and Sophie Williams were a First Team All-Sun Belt selection in 2026. JMU has also had a pair of doubles teams ranked inside the ITA national doubles rankings since the spring of 2024.
Hashiguchi has heavy ties to the Commonwealth, having played collegiately both at Liberty and George Mason while serving as Mason’s assistant coach during the 2022-23 season.
In her lone season coaching the Patriots, she helped the team to a 10-7 overall record. She coached a pair of student-athletes to All-Atlantic 10 honors, as Paige La was a First Team honoree while Taylor Garcia was voted Second Team.
Hashiguchi helped organize practice plans, led drills and planned team travel while also assisting the head coach with recruiting, visits and planning for prospective student-athletes.
As a player, Hashiguchi earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 singles honors at Mason in 2022, as she went 10-5 in dual matches at No. 2 singles and 9-5 in duals from the No. 1 doubles spot.
Prior to Mason, she played four seasons at Liberty, amassing 124 total wins with the Flames. Hashiguchi, a two-year team captain, was a 2018 Second Team All-Big South doubles awardee and earned All-State doubles honors in the same year. She was also a member of Liberty’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Hashiguchi graduated Magna Cum Laude from Liberty in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. She also earned her master’s degree in sport and recreation studies from George Mason in 2023.
