As the associate director of strength and conditioning, Travis Pelletier assists with all aspects of programming, planning and implementing the strength and condition program for football. He is also the strength and conditioning coach for women’s lacrosse and both men’s and women’s tennis, where he implements the strength and conditioning programs for each team.
Prior to JMU, Pelletier was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Tulsa from 2008 to 2010. He assisted with all facets of the football strength program and was the strength coach for five other sports programs there as well.
In 2011, he worked at the University of Pittsburgh as the assistant football strength and conditioning coach and worked to implement training philosophies and methods to 100 athletes. He was also the lead educator in advising the football student-athletes with information regarding nutrition, meal plans and weight loss/gain strategies. As part of that, he developed and implemented nutrition board articles, recipes and healthy eating habits for the football players.
Pelletier moved on to work for EXOS as a performance specialist from 2012-2014. He worked with military service men and women to help increase their physical performance, decrease injuries and help them accomplish their mission-specific and military performance goals. During his time with EXOS he helped connect and facilitate coordination of their military personnel with their integrated team of physical therapists, dieticians, mental performance coaches and unit physicians to help further enhance their physical and mental capabilities.
Pelletier spent one year working at Lindenwood University as an assistant strength coach and head football strength and conditioning coach from 2014-2015. He developed and implemented strength, speed and conditioning programs for the football team as well as taught six credits per semester in weight training.
Pelletier received a Bachelor of Science in health and exercise science in 2006 from the University of Oklahoma and went on to finish a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa in 2010. He has multiple professional certifications, which consist of NSCA-CSCS, USA weightlifting level 1, FMS levels 1&2, RKC instructor and CPR-AED.
Currently residing in Harrisonburg with his wife, Lindsey, and their newborn child, Pelletier likes to watch and play sports, run, travel, visit family, hike and camp in his off time.
