HARRISONBURG, Va., March 20, 2007 ? James Madison's men's tennis team won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to post a 6-1 victory over Mary Washington Tuesday.
The Dukes got wins from junior Jesse Tarr (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) and freshman Mike Smith (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) at No. 1 doubles and from senior John Snead (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) and sophomore Brian Rubenstein (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) at No. 3 doubles. Tarr at No. 1, Smith at No. 3 and Rubenstein at No. 6 followed with singles victories, all in three sets.
Senior Brian Clay (Chantilly, Va./Westfield) had a two-set singles victory at No. 4 for JMU.
The Dukes have matches this weekend at Longwood (March 24) and Liberty (March 25).
