NEWARK, Del., April 16, 2007 ? The James Madison University men's tennis team split matches against UNC-Wilmington and Delaware over the weekend. The Dukes were defeated by the Seahawks 4-1 and then defeated the Blue Hens 4-3.

Two doubles teams won both of their matches for JMU. Jesse Tarr (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) and Mike Smith (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) won both of their No.1 doubles matches while John Snead (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) and Brian Rubenstein (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) picked up a pair of doubles victories in the No. 3 match-up.

JMU swept the Seahawks in doubles play to earn a match point but the Seahawks won four singles matches for a 4-1 victory. The last two singles matches were not completed.

The Dukes started strong against Delaware by winning two of three doubles matches for the first team point. JMU added three more singles victories by Snead, Smith, and Rubenstein for a 4-3 win over the Blue Hens.
