MEN'S TENNIS LOSES 4-3 TO THE CITADEL

CHARLESTON, S.C., March 6, 2008 ? The JMU men's tennis team continued its tour through South Carolina Thursday, losing to The Citadel 4-3.

The Dukes took the doubles point, winning two of the three matches but the Bulldogs fought back to win four of the six singles matches to the match. JMU fell to 4-7 this season with the loss. The Citadel improved to 5-4 after winning its fourth-straight match.

A pair of JMU freshmen, Jared Robinson and Yaroslav Voznenko, each won their singles match and combined to clinch the doubles point for the Dukes. Robinson defeated Yufo Sutantio 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 while Voznenko beat Frderic Petrilli 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. The duo combined to beat Martin King and Petrilli 8-4 in doubles play.

Madison's other victory in doubles play came from senior Jesse Tarr and sophomore Mike Smith defeating Daniel Dossetor and Sutantio 8-3.

Saturday's match with Costal Carolina has been cancelled due to the likely hood of inclement weather. JMU wrapped up its tour of South Carolina 1-2. The will return to action Wednesday, when they'll play their first home match of the season, against Howard University.
