Dukes Drop 5-2 Decision at William & Mary in Regular-Season Finale

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison men's tennis concluded the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 5-2 loss at William & Mary.
The Tribe swept the doubles point before winning the first four singles matches to clinch the team victory. JMU heads into next week's Colonial Athletic Association tournament with a 9-11 overall record (1-4 CAA) while William & Mary takes a 14-9 overall mark (1-1 CAA).
Freshman Tristan Stitt posted the first JMU point on Sunday, taking down Lars de Boer in two sets (7-6, 6-2) at No. 4 singles. He finished his first regular dual season with eight victories, including six at the No. 4 position.
Junior Sebastian Salinas closed out the afternoon with a come-from-behind win over Christian Cargill at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set 7-6, he won the second 6-2 to force a decisive third set, taking it 13-11. The win is Salinas' 10th of the spring, all at the top of the lineup.
JMU now travels to Elon, N.C., for the 2016 CAA Championship. The Dukes will open the quarterfinals at Burlington Tennis Center on Friday, April 22.
