NORFOLK, Va. – James Madison pulled out two singles victories, but could not overcome Marshall in a neutral-court match on Saturday as the Dukes fell 5-2 to the Thundering Herd.
JMU (9-4) trailed 3-0 to Marshall (9-6) when sophomore Emma Petersensecured a come-from-behind victory at No. 3 singles to put the Dukes on the board. Petersen fell 6-2 to Maddie Silver before securing 6-2 and 6-1 wins in the second and third sets, respectively, to take the point.
The Herd clinched match point at No. 5 singles, but both teams played on. Junior Dylan Owenswon her 12th consecutive singles match dating back to tournament play when she came in at No. 6 singles and took down Nikola Novackova 6-3, 7-5.

JMU heads to William & Mary on Sunday, March 19 in a rematch of the 2016 CAA Championship match. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in the Dukes' final road match before a nine-match home stand.
