JMU Sinks Delaware 6-1 in CAA Action

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison men's tennis sank Delaware 6-1 in Colonial Athletic Association action on Friday afternoon at Hillside Courts.

The Dukes (7-6, 2-1 CAA) swept the Blue Hens (4-8, 0-1 CAA) in doubles, including a come-from-behind tiebreak win by senior Sebastian Salinas and freshman Damon Roberts at the No. 2 position. The duo trailed Laurenz Lankes and Blaise Casselbury 5-1 before coming back to win 7-6(2).

The clinching point came courtesy of junior Theophile Lanthiez at No. 4 singles, who kept Tyler Flematti from winning a game en route to straight 6-0 victories.

Lanthiez was one of five Dukes to go 2-0 on Friday afternoon between singles and doubles and one of four Dukes to win his singles match in two sets. His doubles teammate, freshman Paul Mendoza, won his No. 5 singles match 6-0, 6-1 to get the solo scoring started.

Roberts was the second singles player to finish, defeating Colin Wong 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 position. Salinas picked up a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles over Lankes.

JMU has a doubleheader on Saturday, March 25 against Duquesne (9 a.m.) and Norfolk State (2 p.m.) at home. The Dukes are playing concurrently with the JMU women's tennis team against the same foes.
