CONWAY, S.C. – After nearly two weeks away from dual-match play, James Madison women's tennis defeated Coastal Carolina, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
The Dukes evened their record to 7-7 on the season, while the Chanticleers fell to 6-6.
JMU opened the scoring with a comeback to earn the doubles point. After a CCU victory on court one,
Natalia Nikolopoulou and
Hope Moulin evened it up on court two. They scored a 6-3 victory over Mathilde Tranberg and Paola Landin Lopez.
Amanda Nord and
Kylie Moulin secured the doubles point for the Dukes. The duo came out on top in a tiebreak, defeating Anna Babayan and Megan Hopton, 7-6 (5), on court three.
Nord carried that momentum into singles play, where she was the first to finish to double the lead at 2-0. Her 6-3, 6-2 victory over Valentina Urelli on court five was her seventh singles win on the year.
The Dukes extended their lead to three by way of
Daria Afanasyeva on court three. She earned a 6-4, 6-2 win against Megan Hopton to bring JMU on the brink of victory.
Natalia Nikolopoulou delivered the final and clinching point on court one, as she defeated Tranberg for the second time on the day, 6-3, 6-1.
Two other Dukes held leads in their second sets when the match was called upon clinching.
Kylie Moulin was leading on court two, 7-6 (1), 4-1, over Landin Lopez.
Lynelle Lim was also close to a victory, leading Isabella Weatherhead, 7-5, 5-0, on court six.

The Dukes will face off against #23 Furman on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. in a neutral-site match in Charlotte, N.C. The match is a rescheduling of their Jan. 17 postponement.
