Dukes Back in Win Column with 6-1 Victory at Davidson
DAVIDSON, N.C. – James Madison women's tennis wrapped up this weekend's Carolina road trip with a convincing 6-1 win at Davidson on Sunday afternoon at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
The Dukes improved to 8-9 on the year, while the Wildcats fell to 9-6.
JMU controlled the pace throughout the match, sweeping doubles play and winning five of six singles matches en route to its third true road triumph of the season.
In doubles action, the Dukes gained the advantage on court three when
Kylie Moulin and
Amanda Nord took down Linden Patterson and Daniela Porges, 6-2.
A short time later, JMU clinched the doubles point on court one, as
Michelle Los Arcos and
Daniela Voloh defeated Mira Gladstone and Elizabeth Truluck by the same score.
Doubles concluded with a 6-4 victory on court two by
Daria Afanasyeva and
Hope Moulin against Emma Heiderscheit and Franny Shea.
That momentum carried into singles, as the Dukes capturd five straight-set wins.
Voloh cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 triumph against Shea on court four, and
Hope Moulin dominated on court five, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Gladstone.
JMU secured the team win on court three, as Afanasyeva dispatched Heiderscheit, 6-3, 6-2, with her third consecutive singles win.
The lead extended to five on court six when Nord took a 6-3, 6-3 decision from Porges.
Kylie Moulin reeled in the program's final win of the afternoon with a 7-5, 6-2 victory versus Truluck. That win was Moulin's ninth in a row, as she now stands at 10-1 in dual play.
Davidson got on the board with its only point via a tight victory on court one.
JMU is back on the road once again next weekend, as it travels to Clemson, S.C., to take on #72 Clemson out of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The opening serve is set for an 11 a.m. start.
