GULFPORT, Miss. – The James Madison women's golf team opened the spring portion of the 2024-25 season with a second-place showing at the Great River Cup on Tuesday afternoon at the par-72, 6,103-yard Windance Golf Club.
After JMU battled to a 2.5-to-2.5 tie against Middle Tennessee in the opening round, freshman
Isabella Flores won a tiebreaker to give the Dukes the win. JMU then recorded a 3-2 victory over Sun Belt foe Southern Miss to advance to the Championship Match, where they fell to ULM 3.5-1.5.

Lauren Waxer-Gooding recorded two wins to lead JMU, picking up 1UP and 3&1 victories on Monday before falling 3&2 on Tuesday. Freshman Hannah Rabb tallied a pair of ties and finished 0-1-2. Along with her tie in the opening round, Flores posted a 3&2 victory over the Golden Eagles' Momoka Ando in the semifinals before falling 5&3 to Daniela Campillo of ULM.
Senior Tatum Walsh went 1-1-1 with a 3&2 win over Middle Tennessee's Nicole Johnson in the opening round, while Kayleigh Reinke posted a 4&3 victory in Tuesday's match but finished 1-2-0. Amber Mackiewicz competed as an individual but dropped all three matches.
