PHOENIX, Az. – Five James Madison men's tennis student-athletes were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes, and the program earned All-Academic Team status for the 2024-25 academic year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
Earning ITA Scholar-Athlete laurels were freshman
Zach Fleishman, sophomore
Markus Giersiepen, sophomore
Harrison Lee, freshman
Aurelien Schmitt and freshman
Dennis Wiebe.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.5 grade-point average during the academic year.
As a team, the Dukes produced a collective 3.364 GPA for the 2024-25 year to earn ITA All-Academic State status for the second straight year and for the seventh time under Head Coach
Steve Secord. The five individual honorees were also a record with Secord at the helm.
In order to be an academic team, programs must hold at least a combined 3.2 GPA during the academic year.
