HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Head Coach
Steve Secord announced the signing of transfer Kaua Cressoni for the 2026-27 men's tennis season.
Cressoni will have two years of eligibility remaining after competing for two seasons at Gardner-Webb (2024-26).
We are looking forward to working with Kaua," Secord said. "He has been a part of two conference championship teams at Gardner-Webb, and those experiences will transition well into our program. At 6-foot-5, he is a very accomplished doubles player and dangerous in singles as well. He wants to work hard and improve every day and is going to fit in well with our team."
The Sao Paulo, Brazil native has helped the Running' Bulldogs to 2025 and 2026 Big South Conference titles and berths in the NCAA Championship in both seasons.
As a sophomore, he's registered 34 total wins, including 20 in singles and 14 in doubles. This spring, he's 13-8 in dual matches while playing between courts three and five. He's also played primarily at No. 1 doubles, where he's 9-9 in duals. He was a Second Team All-Big South doubles selection in 2026.
He also notched 13 total wins in 2024-25, registering a 12-9 doubles mark on court two to earn First Team All-Big South accolades.
Cressoni is the second signee of Secord's incoming class,
joining Sweden native Theodor Lorentzon, who will be a freshman next fall.
